Ways to Show Gratitude for your Partner
Showing gratitude for your partner is one of the most important skills you can have. Quite honestly, it can make or break your relationship. But what exactly do we mean by gratitude? It’s more than just saying the words “thanks” every once in a while.
Gratitude is a state of mind. It’s being thankful, and then showing your partner that you are grateful for them. Here are a few simple ways to make sure that your partner knows that you appreciate them.
Say “thank you”, and mean it
This is something that all of us could probably do more often. Even if we do it frequently, we can do it a little more. Saying thank you for the big things is great, but make sure to say it for the little things as well. Saying thank you for everything your partner does acknowledges that they are serving you. It let’s them know you notice their efforts. Be specific when you thank your partner, and tell them what it was that they did for you that made you grateful. Not only does this express gratitude, but it further shows your partner that you are really paying attention to what they are doing for you.
Write “thank you” notes
You could do this spontaneously, or you can be super calculated. Every day for one month, write something down that you are grateful that your partner did for you that day, or something about who they are that you are grateful for. This makes a really great, thoughtful, and unique gift that your partner will treasure for a long time. You can also do this for any holiday, or for no reason at all!
Lift their burdens
Successful relationships are made when both partners are giving instead of taking away. Strive to be the first one to serve your partner, by helping them out with their responsibilities, or by taking on other tasks while your partner finishes what they need to get done. And do it without being asked, to the best of your ability. If you see your partner is getting to work done, or taking care of your kids, get other household chores taken care of for them.
Give a surprise gift
As the holidays are coming up, many of us will be receiving gifts as we do every year. But what about the rest of the year? Buying, or making your partner a spontaneous gift shows appreciation for your partner just to for being themselves. It doesn’t have be expensive – it can be as simple as flowers or gift cards to their favorite places.
Create spontaneous quality time
The Holiday season creates added stress and a hectic environment to our already hectic lives. Chances are, you and your partner are both super busy contributing to your lives, with much of your hard work going unnoticed. Take it upon yourself to create some quality time for you and your partner – it’s healthy for your relationship! This is the perfect way to take them away from stress, and show them that you care. This is also a great way to reward yourself for what you do as well. You also deserve it! It is mutually beneficial gratitude!
